Dano has just celebrated 50 years in the tattoo industry! He does every type of tattooing imaginable: Traditional, Tribal, Portraits, Traditional Japanese, Fine Line Black & Grey, Old School, New School, Polynesian, Cover ups, you name it. He has also been doing professional body piercing for over 25 years. Dano also builds one of a kind custom tattoo machines and footswitches for top tattooers around the world. In 2013 he won the first ever International Tattoo Machine Builders Competition sponsored by the industry's leading trade magazine Tattoo Master. His tattoo machines have appeared in Hollywood movies and the tv series "American Horror Story: Freak Show". He has written and published 3 books on the subject of tattoo machines and tattoo history. He has considerable experience in graphic design and has worked in the commercial arts field for many years. Dano is also the curator of the Motor City Tattoo Museum (on display at Bluz Tattooz) which was featured on the History Channel, and is dedicated to preserving the vast history of tattooing through the study of rare tattooing artifacts. Dano was also very active in getting the state of Michigan to pass the now enacted Department of Health Regulations regarding Body Art Establishments. Dano is licensed by the Oakland County Department of Health to practice body art in the state of Michigan. He is also certified in Blood Borne Pathogens, and has completed WHO courses on Infection Prevention And Control of CoVid-19 as well as Hand Hygiene. He plays guitar frequently with his own band the Blues Conspiracy Rockin Blues Review. Rest assured that your tattooing or body piercing experience will be a safe and pleasurable one.
Lori completed an intensive apprenticeship at Bluz Tattooz under Dano Collins in 2006. She has been our fulltime piercer for 18 years now, and has a great rapport with customers. Lori is Blood Borne Pathogens Certified, and Licensed by the Oakland County Health Department. She's also Dano's wife. :)
We have guest artists from all over the world that come to work with us at Bluz Tattooz. We've had guests from England, Portugal, Sweden, Canada,. Mexico and all over the USA. It's a great way for our artists to share ideas and techniques with each other as well as being a great way for our clients to collect work from other talented artists.
